The Madrid Institute for Advanced Study (MIAS), a joint institute of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and the Casa de Velázquez, is pleased to announce the Tomás y Valiente UAM MOTyVES 2026 Call for applications, offering 3 postdoctoral research positions in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Law.
Co-funded by the European Union (Grant Agreement No. 101313325 – MOTYVES – HORIZON-MSCA-2025-COFUND-02), the MOTyVES programme is designed to attract researchers at early and intermediate stages of their academic careers to MIAS and UAM, and to provide them with an internationally oriented, interdisciplinary research environment in Madrid.
Once the programme has ended, the fellows will be able to take up a permanent position at the Autonomous University of Madrid provided they meet the relevant requirements, as the programme aims also to offer young talented researchers with attractive opportunities to stabilise and develop their academic careers. The programme was selected in 2026 under the European Union’s pilot MSCA “Choose Europe for Science” initiative; the total financing of the programme is €1.4 million. The fellows will receive a very competitive salary.
- Number of positions: 3
- Contract duration: 3 years, renewable for a further 2 years, up to 60 months in total

Selected Fellows will be members of both MIAS and a UAM academic department, combining a disciplinary home within the university with access to MIAS’s broader international research community. This dual affiliation provides a setting for intellectual exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration and the development of professional networks across fields and sectors.
The application deadline is 7 December 2026 at 17:00 (Madrid time). Applications must be submitted through the online application portal.
