Kenneth Gillingham

Kenneth Gillingham (born 1980 in Bronxville, New York, US) is an environmental and energy economist. He is the Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at the Yale School of the Environment and a professor of economics at Yale University. Kenneth has published widely on consumer decisions in energy efficiency and renewable energy, as well as on climate and energy policy. His work crosses multiple disciplinary boundaries while primarily drawing upon the fields of applied microeconomics, industrial organization, and energy modeling. In his research, he uses large data sets, theory, and simulation modeling approaches to tackle policy-relevant questions in his work.

Kenneth received his PhD from Stanford University, California, with a dissertation on the consumer response to changing fuel prices and the implications for policy. From 2015 to 2016, he served as the Senior Economist for Energy & the Environment at the White House Council of Economic Advisers. Prior to joining Yale, Kenneth was a Fulbright Fellow in New Zealand and a Fellow for Energy and the Environment at the White House Council of Economic Advisers.
