Biography

Inge is an Artist-in-Residence Fellow at NIAS during 2022-2023.

Inge Meijer finished her two-year residency at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam in 2017 and participated in the Asia Culture Center - Rijksakademie Dialogue and Exchange program in Gwangju, South Korea in 2019. She was most recently a fellow at The Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS) and is currently artist in residency at International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York.

Her book The Plant Collection (Roma Publications, 2019) was selected as The Best Dutch Book Designs in 2020. In collaboration with designer Roger Willems, she recently publish a new book, The MoMA Plant Collection (Roma Publications, 2024) on the forgotten plant life in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

"Stories of my mother’s youth were framed by the tenant farm on which she’d grown up. A topography altered by generations. A space layered with memories that are now also mine. I find myself searching for the tools to manifest this heritage into my work."
