Biography

Jack Wright defended his PhD in History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Cambridge in 2019. He previously studied Philosophy and Mathematics (MA), Economics (GradDip), Mathematics (MSc), and History and Philosophy of Science (MPhil) at the University of Edinburgh, UC Berkeley, the London School of Economics, the University of Toronto, and the University of Cambridge. He was a research associate at the Centre for Research in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and King’s College, Cambridge, from 2018 until 2022, when he took up a position at the University of Gothenburg.

Wright’s work combines philosophical and sociological perspectives on science and economics, with an emphasis on questions regarding the use of scientific and economic knowledge in political and policy contexts. Wright’s research has been published in several leading journals – including Economics and Philosophy, Episteme, and Synthese. Previously, at the University of Cambridge, he created, led, and co-organised a large interdisciplinary network called The Politics of Economics. Wright’s current research focuses on the epistemic virtues of different ways of organising scientific research.
